one of the hardest parts of eating healthy is eating fresh fruits and veggies fast enough. my freezer is stuffed full of random extra things, like pulled pork, rhubarb, cilantro, and way more. it is so easy and convenient to just have these items in your freezer. ⠀ ⠀ before you just go and throw everything into the freezer, do a quick google. some things do need some extra steps done before you freeze. thankfully, lots of moms/gmas have provided us with lots of blogs to read about it before we try it. ⠀ ⠀ spinach is SO easy to freeze. literally just throw it into a bag and put it in the freezer (squeeze the air out of the bag). as you can see here, i tend to buy the large package of spinach because buying in bulk is cheaper, but this week i did not eat as much spinach as i usually do and had like ¾ of the container left over. luckily, my spinach was still super fresh. do not freeze your spinach after it has gone bad. ⠀ ⠀ what are you going to do with frozen spinach? i love spinach in my smoothies. i sometimes struggle with low iron, and you can’t taste spinach in smoothies, so why not? any baked or cooked spinach recipe can use frozen spinach, just make sure to drain some of the liquid off. also, i really like just sautéing spinach in some olive oil and garlic and frozen spinach works just as well as fresh. ⠀ ⠀ if you like using recipes or numbers, measure your spinach before you put it into your bags and label the bags. if you just throw stuff in when you cook, just write the date and spinach on the bag. i always measure things like zucchini and rhubarb because if i am baking i want to follow recipes exactly. things like spinach aren’t going to make or break a recipe. ⠀ ⠀ #homecooking #eatyourveggies #spinach #savemoney #savefood
