lilac bushes are about to be in full bloom, so what better time to channel your inner gma? how may you do this? canning!!!! ⁣ jk but not really! did you know that lilac jelly is a thing?? i didn’t either until last year when i made my first jelly ever. it tastes sooo interesting and is like close to free hehe what could be better? ⁣ if you guys have never canned or made jelly before, this is a great place to start! you can do it!!!⁣ this is a tad bit trickier than what i normally post, but like almost free so?? if you need any help, never hesitate to dm me!! ⁣ ingredients:⁣ • 2 packed c of lilac blossoms (no stems or leaves)⁣ • 3 c of boiling water ⁣ • 1/4 c lemon juice ⁣ • 1/2 tsp butter ⁣ • 4 c sugar ⁣ • one box powered pectin ⁣ directions: ⁣ • place flowers in a glass bowl and cover them with boiling water ⁣ • keep in fridge overnight ⁣ • sterilize your jars. you’ll want 8 small jars (4 oz). just boil some water and place them in it. then take them out. simple as that. ⁣ • strain your flowers/water. you’ll want about 2 1/4 c of lilac water! ⁣ • add water, lemon juice, butter and pectin to a large pot. bring to boil. ⁣ • add sugar. mix well. bring back to boil. ⁣ • boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. ⁣ • put jelly into jars & lid ⁣ • in a very large pot, boil enough water to cover jars. add jars and boil for 10 minutes. ⁣ • wa la you just made your very first jelly!! ⁣ #homecooking #jelly #canning #lilacjelly #youcandoit
